Christmas Music

(Photo: My guitar.) Yes, I'm listening to Christmas music already. I love jazzy Christmas music. It makes me want to be domestic and crafty. Perhaps I will bake now...~*

Savin for a Vacation! I hope...

(Photo: tips from work.) Me and the hubbs are saving for our anniversary in two weeks. But perhaps we might be saving for unemployment instead. Martin works for a collection agency (I know...) and as you can imagine this economy is not gonna budge with their pocket books--especially around Christmas. At his work, they told him they might eliminate his position altogether if he doesn't do something about the numbers. I'm thinking, "Like what? Fudge them? Add a few zeros?" That's about all they can do if they want to keep afloat. Of course, they'd never tell him that outright. They put pressure on him to make them look better but he refuses to give in, even if these are difficult times. Pray for him. He's in the market for a career change.~*

Coffee Break

(Photo: Free coffee from work. I've cosumed many cups lately...).

Confession: I'm slightly excited for it to snow soon.

I can also not wait for the weekend. Hoo-rah!~*

God Loves a Cheerful Giver, Right?

http://www.kare11.com/news/news_article.aspx?storyid=528524

I'm from around that area in Michigan, and that suburb in particular is very ritzy. This article doesn't depict her meanness very well. I was able to see video footage of her standing behind her glass front door shouting "Obama is scary!" while holding up candy with McCain-Palin flyers attached to them.

It's Halloween--kids, not democrats or republicans, are coming to your door to get candy. And you're using this as some absurd political platform, angering parents and frightening kids who were subject to political questions when approaching your door? I don't think making kids cry is a very good way to boost support in the first place, but why turn this "kid holiday" into some this-party-vs.-that-party nonsense? This is supposed to be a time when people get outside and meet their neighbors and you've turned it into something that divides in such a ridiculous way.

Another stunt includes a manican of Sarah Palin on a noose in someone's yard. People wanted it taken down but local authorities in California said it was part of a Halloween display and wouldn't force the man to take it down. In it's honor, two seperate parties hung Barak Obama on nooses in other states. They were told to take them down and charged with breaking the law. Only after pressure from his neigbors did the man finally remove the manican of Palin from the noose. (Don't believe me? Nov. 4th couldn't have come any quicker this year.~*

Candy Buy-Back

http://www.kare11.com/news/news_article.aspx?storyid=527956

When I heard this story on my local news station, something didn't sit right. Then it really did't sit right. If you haven't read it yet, go to the site and read it--it only takes 1-2 min.

First of all, what a waste to buy candy to hand out to kids costing $5 a pop per 1 lb bag just to have them turn it all over to their dentist who's offering much less for their poundage of candy ($1 a lb).

Yes, I know it goes to charity--but that's just it! The kids who hand over the goods get a healthy snack and a toothbrush along with some cash. Then the tooth-rotting lbs of sugar--which they just got done saying are cavity-causing agents--gets sent to kids who are terminally ill. Why does this make for a good cause???

Trick or treat: what are your thoughts?~*
